s06 is a one-person engineering practice run by Sam Winters. I build small, durable systems — self-hosted servers, automation that removes manual work, and AI tooling that earns its place.
Most of what I build has one property in common: it is expected to run unattended for months, on hardware I own, with no dashboard open. That constraint shapes everything — how state is stored, how failures are reported, and how much complexity a system is allowed to carry.
Scheduled jobs, watchdogs, and integrations that take a chore and make it invisible. Certificate renewal, DNS drift detection, backup verification, nightly consolidation — each with an alert path so silence means success rather than breakage.
Linux hosts, RAID storage, UPS-aware shutdown and power recovery, reverse proxying and per-host TLS on a single box. Designed so a power cut or an ISP address change is a non-event rather than an outage.
Speech interfaces, agent loops, and document pipelines where the value is in the plumbing: streaming, retries, tool calls, approvals, and graceful degradation when a provider is slow or unavailable.
Web apps and companions built for a phone in one hand — offline tolerance, per-host sessions, and interfaces that stay legible when the connection drops mid-action.
A personal server that runs a voice assistant, a notes knowledge base, a paper-trading dashboard and a handful of utilities from a single process; a watch companion that talks to it over Bluetooth; and the operational scaffolding underneath — backups, certificates, watchdog timers.

If you have a system that needs to stop needing you, here is how I work.
